Hi,
Years back there was a revolver advertized in the gun rags as being able to shoot 9mm, 38spl, 357mag, 38 Super, and any of the .355" to .357" rounds.
Struck me as a neat lil' gun for survival.
Anyone know what I'm talking about? I think it may have been called the Medusa but I could be sadly mistaken.
Thanks,
Josh <><

Not quite as extreme, but Ruger makes dual cylinder models of the Blackhawk in 357/9mm and 45Colt/45ACP. Have to swap a cylinder to change the "caliber" but a neat feature if you ask me.
I keep wanting the 357/9mm model.

Actually it was originally called the Survivor. It was even listed in the Handguns 2000 annual (pg245) where it was advertised as being able to chamber and fire "9x18, 9x19, 9x23, 9mm Largo, 380 ACP, 38 Super, .38 Spec. +P, 357 Mag" in it's five shot cylinder. It further stated it was introduced in 1999 and they even included a "pictuce" of one with a 3" barrel. But it was never put into production.
However the actual Survivor had a 2" barrel and a six shot cylinder. Not the 3" barrel and five shot cylinder advertised.
I know thes because I have examined the only one in existence. In fact it's just a Colt Magnum Carry with a different cylinder. The barrel is simply marked Colt Magnum Carry because there was only one made. Colt announced a slightly different model but I don't know if a complete gun was ever assembled or not. Colt won't tell me and I know of no photographs of the actual gun. I was talking to Jon Phillips at the Colt Collectors Association show last year. He had the gun with him and that is when I examined it thouroughly. It's very well made and would have been a huge seller IF Colt had not decided to pull the plug on all small handguns.
By the way for those of you who don't know who Jon Phillips is, he is the Phillips in the Phillips & Rodgers company that produced and sold the Medusa Revolver. The Medusa was a S&W style revolver that would chamber all of the above cartridges and then some. It was a nice six shot revolver similar in size to an L-Frame.
And by the way, Jon, if you're out there, Cheers! I hope to see you in Reno this year.

Hey, guys--great news!! I got one. (Okay, my dad got one, but he got it for me.) I mean the Ruger Blackhawk .357 / .38 with 9mm cylinder. I can't wait 'til Christmas so I can go home and help him test it out. He also got a Single Six with .22 and .22 mag cylinders. And a Blackhawk in .44 mag. All with western holsters. Kent

... being able to chamber and fire "9x18, 9x19, 9x23, 9mm Largo, 380 ACP, 38 Super, .38 Spec. +P, 357 Mag" in it's five shot cylinder. Couldn't a good machinist take a basic .357 Mag and do what needs doing for the different types of ammo? If a company can do it, I'm sure someone who knows ammo can do it.

Nevermind, I see how they did it...the cylinder has this central pin that has the 'fingers' to grip the casings of the various rounds of ammo. thats how they kept it from 'sliding down the hole' I guess each round when fired pushes back against the hammer so as to not pop out.
cute idea!
